Here I am in Hong Kong, running around with Anthony, whose visa also is running out around now. It's nice to be in a city, but it also reminds me why I don't live in one anymore.
It has occurred to me that the more expensive cost of living has similar properties to government taxation and is used to fund convenience. If you don't partake in or need that convenienve, then it doesn't make sense to be paying that tax.

A snippet of code that will automatically redirect searches that would display only one search result so that they do not show the search results page but instead immediately and automatically redirect to the first result.
To use it, add it to your active theme's template.php file and replace themename with the name of your theme.

I realize now at this moment, that this whole online journal thing has deviated from “writing down my thoughts and it all just happens to be on line” to “worrying about stream of consciousness being too confusing to a reader.” That wasn't ever really my intention, so if this ends up incoherent and you end up reading it, then too bad for you.

I happened to look up at the sky tonight and Mars punched me in the eye. It's quite a sight. Makes me wish I had better eyesight and/or a pair of big fat binoculars (or a telescope!). The moon is roughly full which, along with the lights from the city and the big fat glowing prayer wheel and temple, makes for a lot of stray light, but I am truly grateful to live in a city with a (as of yet) crystal clear sky.
Lazy Instant Pancake Mix

This seems to work (measured by volume):
Dry
- 80 parts flour
- 20 parts milk powder
- 4 parts sugar
- 2 parts baking powder
- 1 part salt
Wet
- Water
Mix dry together and store. When ready to use, mix with water to make thick batter. read more…
